Sand printing and the spoken word, sound wave and the recording of the disappearance of writing.
Audio Images
Ira Marom
2005
Ira Marom’s installation “Audio Images” (2005) uses video image, sound and an original technology of laser-printing on sand. The sound wave obliterates words printed on the sand, with speaker membranes placed just underneath and amplifying the sound of the words uttered as their graphic representations disappear. This offers a visual experience of the physical properties of the acoustic wave, which adds an ontic significance to the “Audio Images” installation.
